チャン島は首都バンコクから300キロ強の距離ですが、移動はさほど大変ではありません。多少の労力を費やしてでも行く価値がある場所ですし、ホワイトサンド・ビーチやバンバオ・ビーチ、ロンリー・ビーチなどの砂浜に寝そべれば、バンコクが何千マイルも離れたはるか彼方に感じられます。他のリゾート地と比べて商業化に過ぎていないところも、チャン島の魅力のひとつ。たいていのビーチの近くにはおいしいレストランと雰囲気の良いバーがあり、それと同時に島のいたるところに手つかずの自然が溢れるチャン島は、きわめてバランスがとれたリゾート地と言えましょう。
